Home At Last

Home At Last

As a child we have no words to say
What came before this world we live upon.
Playing in the glow of the fullness of our wonder
Knowing not that as we grow things might change.
Once we see more of earthly things we forget our delight.
All the skinned knees of many tumbles distract us.
And the broken hearts of all our trials confound us.
Weighing heavy on us as we age and change.
And as I waded through this life I waited
For this world to have more answers and peace.
I knew the love of many friends and family beside me.
I drew strength and hope to comfort my soul.
Yet doubt and grief were constant companions
As all mortal beings know all too well.
They are our shadows that keep us grounded.
Their knowledge the gravity that holds us fast to the Earth.
As the curtain draws closer on the end of my time
On this the worldly life I’ve known,
I shall reach out for the hand of the Father
And go to my lasting rest.
Walking free of this land-locked Shell
That has known the pain of falling down
And the broken hearts of this world and its loss.
Floating free of all trials and worries
I rise in wonder and grace.
And know that promise made and kept
Will shelter me forever more.
Grave forgotten, I go Home
At Last.
