Profit Motive

They hobnob over our bodies,
Standing tall in their finest vulture coat.
Wealth driving further to a few,
Record profits every year,
How you gonna blame that on the poor?
They own nothing but the ashes.
Renting their misery from the haves,
The have-nots drown in debt.
They stand sweltering in a world on fire,
Told the soot is progress.
Their portion of goods on layaway,
We will never earn enough to pay,
But Musk saves the world by selling cars?
Apple mines for rare minerals,
To go obsolete on a regular drip.
Bonuses to executives for each iProduct.
So what if little brown children,
Learn to sew at sweatshop speed,
Instead of school, hope, or options.
So what if little black boys,
Are crushed by the possibilities,
Beaten down in the mines,
Or watch your baby sister starve.
