Daybreak

Gold in the grass,
The dew on the vine,
The moments that pass,
Time after time.
Risen from the East,
Day breaks like a vow.
With moonlight ceased,
Night has taken her bow.
Soon roosters will crow.
Sleepers will rise.
Dreams no longer flow,
Yet turn with the tide.
“Good morning, good morning,”
The sparrows now sing,
And heeding their warning,
Arise, Pauper and King.
The dog wants out.
The alarm starts its beep.
Yet snug in my house,
I turn over in my sleep.
