Mile High
A mile isn’t that far to walk,
It’s extremely hard to climb.
The air rare and thin,
Tinny, dry, and hot.
The locals have proud hearts about the altitude.
Closer to the sun, not to god.
Try telling them that,
They stare in thin, fit slices.
A mile away from sea level,
All I want is familiar thick air,
A sky looming further away,
Sticky Shipley donuts,
Thick twang in the clerk's mouth.
I cannot run,
I must not fly,
A mile, no more, is still endless.
