Implacable
I feather my nest with the bones of my enemies.
I lay out my doorway in the flesh of my foes.
Framing doors and windows with the pelts of their fathers.
Raking bare the bedrock beneath these shadows.
I whisper like an anchor to bring their crowns lower.
I sing like a maiden to urge their brave on.
I weep blood with the mother over her lost ones.
I scream like an eagle for those who are gone.
I stamp my heels deep into the soil of this mountain.
I cradle my arms around the fallen pine boughs.
I wade in the river with my hair unbound and matted.
I sweep bare the willows and etch deeply my vows.
For in darkness, I wander with my eyes full of balefire,
My palms empty of all but the rattle of teeth.
Between the void and the gloaming, I move through the eventide,
And I walk through the silence to what lies beneath.
All men know my name yet they fear to speak it.
The women know my purpose and see it as just.
The great houses and paupers alike in their emptiness,
The priests close their eyes as the bells fall to rust.
Time and I are but distantly acquainted.
Death is no more my destination than thine.
But mountains grind to powder down the long ages,
From the cradle to the grave is a brief flash of time.
So sing louder my maidens to keep high the spirits.
Pull deep the oars old uncles and crones.
Ride high fair warriors as if naught can touch you.
I await your arrival in my palace of bones.
