Invisible Witness

I’ve never felt a private life.
My mysterious brain lies,
Telling me I am seen,
I am witnessed when alone.
Sometimes I think of watchers,
They say my father looks down,
Peering from far off heaven.
I’m not sure I believe in Heaven.
I feel observed inside the bath,
Eyes crawl about me as I fall asleep.
A blessing in our surveillance state,
I always expect witnesses.
I’m only alone in my skull,
If I’m not paranoid,
I don’t know what I am.
