Desiccate
Grass blades crunching underfoot like brittle glass
Air that burns like an oven
A world only locusts can love
Brown and seared and awaiting burning
Parched soils crumble to dust
Raised by stagnant breezes
Into choking clouds
Ashes like the world is ending
Four thousand fires char Canadian forests
Tropical Hawaii cloaked in flames and smoke
California drowns inside a drought
While Texas hardens in the ceaseless sun
