Untracked
I walked for many miles today,
I had many places to go,
Alas, I forgot my Fitbit,
So no one will ever know.
I left it charging by the door,
And lightly skipped outside,
Not realizing at that point,
I had no tracker by my side.
How far I walked, I cannot say,
And hope to be believed,
For in my haste to depart,
Bare wristed, I did leave.
Such small tragedy is forgettable,
Petty, trivial, and trite,|
But it weighs heavy on my mind,
And cannot be made right.
Sometimes it is the human heart,
We seek for truth inside,
But who can judge our ambulations,
And look at such with pride?
I walk for me and for my health,
That much remains solid and true,
But I’m petty and need encouragement,
Built into all I do.
So, tomorrow I will try harder to retain,
All the tools I need,
To keep my efforts counted,
And track my steps indeed.
